Cincinnati is teeming with sports fans who are tired of taking it from their sports teams. Case in point is Hamilton County. Mounds of debt notes are piling up as a result of deals to help pay for the Reds and Bengals new stadiums. No one anticipated the economy to fail as it did, and therefore the ROI local politicians were anticipating disappeared into thin air. Now, budgets are in the red and the teams are barely willing to help out Cincinnati residents. It’s the same story, different town, but it could’ve been avoided.
Public funding for stadiums isn’t the only gripe ‘Nati sports fans have with the establishment. The Cincinnati Bearcats were only given one shot in the post-season against a heavyweight in Florida. While the SEC triumphed over the formerly undefeated Big East contender, it begs the question ‘When are we going to get our playoff?’ The only way residents of the Cincinnati area can respond is by joining the fight to change sports for the better, for fans, today. Join the Coalition, Share your stories, and start the Cincinnati chapter of the SFC today.
